UIL Academics
The University Interscholastic League offers the most comprehensive literary and academic competitive program in the nation. It offers more than any other UIL division in terms of activities, with approximately 30 high school contests. More than a half million students participate in UIL academic contests. These activities, which exist to complement the academic curriculum, are designed to motivate students as they acquire higher levels of knowledge, to challenge students to confront issues of importance, and to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of specific skills.

Bluebonnets
Bluebonnets
The New Caney High School Award Winning Bluebonnets are celebrating their 53rd year! To be a Bluebonnet Dance Team member, you are a part of a year-round team; a team that works together stays TOGETHER! Leadership of a team is important, and members will cultivate and demonstrate leadership skills. The Bluebonnet organization provides a real opportunity to exert initiative, leadership and creativity. The opportunities to grow, learn and lead that are received through the Bluebonnet organization will ease the transition from adolescence into adulthood.
The Bluebonnets perform at pep rallies, football games, basketball games, contests, various community events and their annual Spring Show in March. The Bluebonnets have competed and traveled across the US over the last 50+ years, including Florida, New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans and numerous cities across Texas. Performance trips include international cruises, New York City, Los Angeles and Walt Disney World in Florida. Special team performances include Halftime for the Houston Rockets, Carnival Cruise Lines, Super Bowl XXXVIII Pre-game with Willie Nelson, Toby Keith and Aerosmith and Super Bowl LI Halftime with Lady Gaga.
The NCISD Bluebonnet tryouts will be held in April 2025.

The Award Winning Break Dance Team was established in 2001. The team performs at various events such as Pep Rallies, community events, competitions and their annual Spring Show in March. The Break Dancers have traveled across the US over the last 23 years including Florida, New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans and numerous cities across Texas. The Break Dancers also performed in Super Bowl LI in Houston with Lady Ga Ga.

The New Caney HS band is comprised of marching band, 3 concert bands, percussion, color guard, and jazz band.
Students wanting to join the band are generally auditioned at the end of their 8th grade year. However, we do accept students who wish to join the band on a case by case basis. If a student is not in the band, or color guard, and wishes to be, they should come to the band hall and visit with one of our three band directors.

Orchestra
New Caney Orchestra strives to help students grow musically and as individuals. The goal is progress in the playing ability on your instrument and contribute to large ensemble performances. Each Ensemble has 3-5 concerts and performances per year for parents and community members.
To join, student must have been in Orchestra at least one year in middle school or have one year of IN SCHOOL playing at a various school or district. We DO NOT offer beginning string classes at New Caney High School so students must have a year of experience to join!

Yearbook
Staff members cover the history of the school year. Staff members must be able to attend a variety of school activities and functions. Skills, such as basic photography, design, spread layout, and personal interviews, are required. The staff is responsible for publishing (from blank to complete) a 216 page book.

Cosmetology
Our cosmetology course combines theory with extensive hands-on experience to provide you with a complete understanding of beauty and wellness. The program includes hair cutting, color, texture services, nail care, makeup application, business development, retail knowledge and the concept of gaining and retaining clients. Upon completion, students will have the necessary skills to complete the TDLR examinations and earn an entry-level career right out of high school.
Cosmetology is a 3-year program starting your sophomore year, open to any students interested in becoming a Hairstylist or Barber. Students are required to be an attendance for 1000 clock hours to complete the program.
Criminal Justice Club
Criminal Justice Club
The Criminal Justice Club is a student organization for those interested in developing skills necessary for a career in forensics, law enforcement, and/or legal studies. Students receive practical training in the field and have the opportunity to participate in competitions at the regional and state level.
Contact Mrs. Syverson, Mr. Joseph, or Mr. Ryan if you are interested in joining. Please note only students currently enrolled in a criminal justice or forensics class will be able to attend competitions; however, we welcome any interested student into the club portion of the organization.

Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a Career and Technical Student Organization that functions as an integral part of the Family and Consumer Sciences education curriculum and operates within the school system. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues. Through participation in Competitive Events, becoming involved in community service opportunities, student leadership, and attending leadership conferences, members develop real world skills, explore Career Pathways, and become college- and career-ready.

HOSA is a global student-led organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Department of Health and Human Services and several federal and state agencies. HOSA’s mission is to empower HOSA-Future Health Professionals to become leaders in the global health community, through education, collaboration, and experience. HOSA actively promotes career opportunities in the health industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA’s goal is to encourage all health science instructors and students to affiliate and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership.

The purpose of the National Honor Society is to recognize outstanding academic achievement, to provide opportunities for service, and to develop character and leadership.
NHS is an invitational opened to 9th-12th grades. Based on the following requirements 3.5 or higher GPA (4.0 scale), established volunteer hours, excellent record of behavior in and out of school, and participation of leadership roles in school or the community.
